Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences

The “Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences” is an association of the Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT), the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences (SAHS), the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences (SAMS), and the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences (SATW) as well as the two centres of excellence TA-SWISS and Science et Cité. Their collaboration is focused on foresight, ethics and the dialogue between science and society.
The academies stand for an open and pluralistic understanding of science. Thus, they represent sciences comprehensively, inter-institutionally as well as inter-departmentally.
Established in the scientific community, they have access to expertise and excellence, and can therefore contribute a special knowledge to important political questions.
The Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences promotes cooperation among the four academies and ensures the exchange of information and coordination with the Swiss National Science Foundation. Internationally, it represents the four Swiss Academies in the All European Academies (ALLEA), the European Academies Science Advisory Council (EASAC) and in the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP).
