Public Health Resident

Biography
Full-time: Public Health Resident at the Croatian Institute for Public Health
In the second year of an UEMS licensed four-year full-time multidisciplinary residency programme with general and specific competences streams. General competences include communication, ethics, teamwork, EBM, etc. Specific competences are public health-related and include disease prevention, health promotion, population health assessment, organisation and quality of healthcare systems, health policy development and implementation as well as strategic planning and management. Practically this consists of working, often by means of “shadowing”, in various institutions including public health institutes (both on local and national level), hospitals (both in hospital management as well as public health related clinical work) and other specific agencies, ministries and NGO’s. Residency programme also includes daily work on different EU projects in public health (mostly related to medical information management, medical informatics and biostatistics).
Volunteer work: Executive Board Member and Internship Lead at the EuroNet MRPH
EuroNet MRPH is the European Network of Medical Residents in Public Health. It is a European association making the link between national associations of Public Health Residents through Europe. EuroNet MRPH has the threefold aim of connecting Public Health Residents in order to exchange practices, favoring internship placements in European countries and developing scientific studies focused in health field.
Croatian branch of EuroNet MRPH is appointed for an “internship lead” in 2016. Goal is to map public health residents’ internship opportunities in Europe as well as to “lobby” for EuroNet-specific internship positions. 
Volunteer work: Member of the Supervisory Board at the Croatian HL7 Association
National association promoting standards for the exchange, integration and retrieval of electronic health information that supports clinical practice and the management, delivery and evaluation of health services.
Volunteer work: Medical Consultant at the “Zajednički put” Foundation
Medical consultation for admittance in a housing community for senior citizens. 
Volunteer work: Medical Consultant (HIV Testing and Counselling) at the “Iskorak” LGBT Testing Centre
Working in an LGBT Centre at voluntary counselling and HIV/AIDS testing.
