Project information
Title of proposalEstablishment of Network of African Science Academies (NASAC) Water Programme for Africa Region
Summary (200 word max.)For the water programme initiatives to be distributed evenly across African countries, the representatives of African Academies resolved to put the programme under the auspices of NASAC. In this connection, NASAC will play an active coordinating role, while the selected members will focus on the direct implementation of the water project. A similar role that IANAS plays for the water programme in Latin America. The NASAC Executive Committee is commited to having a Water programme for Africa and therefore approved plan of action which included: launching the NASAC Water Programme, developing a database of water experts, and conducting a survey on the status of water in Africa. The IAP funding being requested for will therefore be utilised to launch the NASAC Water Programme for Africa, organise a meeting of representatives from African Science Academies to develop terms of reference and funding proposals and organising three regional meetings.
