Summary (200 word max.) The IAP Science Education Program (SEP) is based on the activities of regional networks of Academies in the Americas, Africa and Asia-Pacific. There is a need to coordinate these activities and to tackle together problems of common interest such as evaluation and science teacher professional development. A global group that includes the three regional coordinators and four international experts gathers information from the regional networks and plans and executes global activities. The coordinator of SEP should attend the meetings of the regional Focal Points to maintain active communication about activities and priorities. In 2009, a meeting of the coordinating group, the publication of a report on science teacher professional development and the travels of the coordinator are planned
