News from the African Academy of Sciences (AAS)

The African Academy of Sciences has published the latest edition of its quarterly newsletter “Science Policy Africa”

The newsletter reports on the Academy’s 9th General Assembly (GA), held in Brazzaville, Congo, from 14 to 17 April 2014. The Assembly of AAS was held as part of the Africa Science Week. At the Assembly, the Academy elected its new president, Professor Aderemi Oluyomi Kuku.

The AAS is also active in the field of Science, Technology and Innovation for post -2015 development goals. On the occasion of the 17th session of the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development in Geneva, Switzerland, AAS President Professor Kuku gave a short presentation on “Science, Technology, and Innovation for the Post-2015 Agenda - An African Perspective”. His presentation looked at the STI post-2015 agenda from an African perspective.
