Searching for Science-based Solutions to Poverty Eradication and Sustainable Development

To tackle poverty and inequality toward attaining two of the 17 sustainable development goals set by UN, representatives of academies of sciences under the umbrella of the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) convened in Beijing to work out potential solutions, with support of natural and social sciences. The attached article, published in the Bulletin of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, provides an overview of the meeting. The IAP Science for Poverty Eradication Committee was established following the IAP for Science General Assembly in Rio de Janeiro in 2013 and is led by the Brazilian Academy of Sciences.
