Biography

Stevan Pilipović, a distinguished mathematician, was born in Novi Sad on 24 May 1950. He holds a full membership in the Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Geoscience at the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA). Pilipović's association with SASA dates back to October 2003, when he became a corresponding member, and he was elevated to full membership in November 2009. His expertise lies in various fields, including generalized functions, hyperfunctions, pseudodifferential operators, and microlocal analysis. Throughout his academic journey, he has made significant contributions to the study of linear and nonlinear equations with singularities and stochastic equations.

Pilipović's educational background includes a BSc in Mathematics from the Faculty of Science, Novi Sad, and an MSc from the Faculty of Science, Belgrade. He defended his doctoral thesis under the guidance of Academician Bogoljub Stanković and pursued further research during a fellowship in Kiel, Germany. In his career, Pilipović has held positions at the Department of Mathematics and Informatics, Faculty of Science, Novi Sad, progressing from a Teaching Assistant to a Full Professor.

Within SASA, Pilipović has held significant roles such as Head of the Mathematical Section of the Mathematical Institute and President of the Branch in Novi Sad since March 2015. He is actively involved in numerous specialist associations, serving on committees, boards, and as a consultant for organizations such as the Mathematics Committee of the Ministry of Science, Mathematical Society of Serbia, and American Mathematical Society, among others.

Pilipović's editorial contributions extend to various esteemed journals, where he serves as editor-in-chief or a member of editorial boards, contributing to the advancement of mathematical research and dissemination of knowledge. His exemplary contributions to the field of mathematics have been recognized through awards such as the October Prize of the City of Novi Sad in 1995 and the Life Achievement Award of the Vojvodina Association of University Teachers and Scientists in 2016.
