The Conference, focusing on a new science and technology to consolidate disaster risk reduction and sustainable development, took place at the University of Tokyo, 14 - 16 January 2015.

Discussions focused on how to mobilize existing networks of scientific and research  institutions at national, regional and international levels and how to support national platforms to practice evidence-based disaster risk reduction. Organizing partners included the UNISDR and IRRD and the University of Tokyo.

The Tokyo Statement - 'Towards a new science and technology to consolidate disaster risk reduction and sustainable development' has been drafted for adoption. Visit the Conference website for more details and a link to the presentations and photo gallery.

The Conference was organized in the run-up to the 3rd UN Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction scheduled to place from 14-18 March 2015 in Sendai, Japan.
