Young Academy Ireland (YAI) is an all-island, interdisciplinary network of early-career researchers and innovators (ECRIs) working across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Established under the auspices of the Royal Irish Academy, YAI brings together exceptional individuals from academia, industry, civil society, and the public sector who demonstrate excellence, potential, and a strong motivation to contribute to society and enrich the research and cultural landscape of the island of Ireland.
YAI members collaborate across disciplines and sectors to address pressing societal challenges. Their work spans a wide range of initiatives, and recent projects include:
- Contributing to evidence-informed policymaking, such as through the YAI-hosted Evidence for Policy Summit.
- Spotlighting urgent need for coordinated academic support for scholars affected by war and displacement, through recent publication of the report Science in Conflict Zones
- Supporting early-career researchers, by providing workshop and toolkit on Narrative CVs YAI’s mission is to provide a platform for early-career voices to shape the future of research, culture, and innovation on the island of Ireland and beyond. Members engage with global grand challenges—such as sustainability, future of academia, fair and inclusive society—through collaborative, transdisciplinary projects that aim to make a meaningful impact.
