Gloria Dubner
Gloria Dubner is an astrophysicist specializing in the study of exploding stars and their impact on the interstellar medium. She has been a professor of Physics at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and senior researcher at the National Council for Scientific and Technological Research of Argentina (CONICET). She was Director of the Institute of Astronomy and Space Physics (UBA-CONICET) and served two terms as vice president of the National Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences of Argentina (ANCEFN). For her work she has received several awards, including the “KONEX Platinum Award” as Astronomer of the Decade; the “Lifetime Achievement Award” in Astronomy from the ANCEFN; a Laudatory Declaration from the Honorable Senate of Argentina in recognition of her contributions to astronomical sciences in the country; the International Astronomical Union named the minor planet 9515-1975 RA2 “Dubner” in recognition of her contribution to Argentine astronomy; and the Government of the City of Buenos Aires declared her Outstanding Citizen for her contributions to education and research and her firm commitment to promoting gender equality in astronomical sciences.
