Kevin Gerard Daly
Dr. Kevin G. Daly is a geneticist who uses millennia-spanning transects ancient genomes to study the history of livestock domestication. This work has been published in international journals Science, PNAS, and Nature Communications. He is an Ad-Astra Lecturer/Assistant Professor at UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science. He was among the first cohort of the SFI-IRC Pathway awardees, to pursue research on the genetic health consequences to small ungulate domestication and the evolution of livestock zoonoses. From 2026 he will lead the ERC Starter project "HERDPATH", exploring how livestock and their pathogens have co-evolved in the last 10,000 years. Within YAI Kevin has participated in activities within the Future of Academia and Sustainability Grand Challenges. He led a Narrative CV workshop and the production of a Narrative CV toolkit in 2025 and additionally has organized an information session for Displaced/At-Risk applicants to the YAI. In his spare time, he walks his dachshunds, Moose and Cooper.
