Óscar Lucía Gil
Óscar Lucía is a Full Professor at the Department of Electronic Engineering and Communications of the University of Zaragoza and a member of the Aragón Institute of Engineering Research I3A. He carried out research stays at the Center for Power Electronics Systems at Virginia Tech and at TU Berlin. His work focuses on power electronics for efficient energy conversion in industrial, electric vehicle, biomedical, and household applications. He has published over 100 journal articles and 150 conference papers, supervised 5 PhD theses and more than 50 final projects, and developed over 75 patent families with more than 150 international extensions through collaborations with leading companies. He serves as Associate Editor in leading journals such as IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Industrial Electronics Magazine where he is Society News Editor, IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, and IEEE Open Journal of the Industrial Electronics Society.
His research achievements have been recognized with several awards, including the Extraordinary Doctoral Award, BSH-UZ Innovation Awards, a Best Paper Award in IEEE IEM, the IEEE Rudolf Chope R&D Award, the Agustín de Betancourt y Molina Award from the Royal Academy of Engineering, and the Ramón y Cajal Award for technology transfer. His group GEPM has been highlighted by Clarivate as a global leader in applied electronics for household appliances. He is a full member of the Young Academy of Spain, which he has chaired since 2024.
