Prof Thangaratinam is the Vice President (International) of the Academy of Medical Sciences, UK. She is a Professor of Women’s Health at the University of Liverpool, UK, NIHR Senior Investigator, and a Consultant Obstetrician. Prof Thangaratinam has extensive global health expertise in tackling global health challenges and overcoming complex geopolitical and funding barriers. As VP International, Professor Thangaratinam builds on the Academy’s strategic approach for engaging with European and US partners, the global South, and other key stakeholders. She has significant experience in leading large-scale, global research collaborations across more than 40 countries, shaping over 130 national and international policy documents. Prof Thangaratinam's work is supported by widespread partnerships with NHS, academia, industry, and international networks. She has a long history of championing patient and public involvement (PPI) through initiatives like the Equal Voices Alliance, which spans 15 countries.
