Biography

Antonio L Teixeira is the Orme Endowed Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry, Biggs Institute, UT Health San Antonio, where he is actively involved in clinical care and research of older adults with Alzheimer’s disease and neuropsychiatric conditions.

In parallel with his clinical training in psychiatry, internal medicine and neurology, he pursued a PhD and postdoctoral fellowships in cellular biology/neuroimmunology investigating the role played by immune mechanisms in the pathophysiology of brain diseases.  He was an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Neurology at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil, from 2004 to 2015. He moved to the United States in 2015 to lead the Neuropsychiatry Program at UT Health Houston, position he held until 2023.
