Yensi Flores Bueso
Dr. Yensi Flores Bueso is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at University College Cork and the Institute for Protein Design, University of Washington. Her research combines synthetic biology and AI-driven protein design to create new proteins for health and sustainability, including next-generation cancer therapies. She is also deeply committed to advancing open science and fostering inclusive research cultures, which she does by engaging at the science–policy interface and through active advocacy. As Co-Chair of the Global Young Academy, she represents early-career researchers worldwide and contributes to international policy as a member of the UN Secretary-General’s Scientific Advisory Board. She has also been appointed to the Independent Group of Scientists preparing the 2027 Global Sustainable Development Report and to the Steering Group of the International Science Council Forum on Publishing and Research Assessment. Previously, she served on the inaugural Steering Board of the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA), helping shape more equitable and responsible research evaluation systems.
