Early- and mid-career scientists, engineers and medical professionals from the United States and African Union countries are invited to apply for the 2027 U.S.-Africa Frontiers of Science, Engineering, and Medicine Symposium, which will take place 16–18 March 2027 in Accra, Ghana.
Organized by the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in partnership with the University of Ghana, the symposium aims to strengthen scientific exchange across disciplines and foster new international research collaborations. The programme brings together outstanding researchers who are within 15 years of receiving their highest degree and provides opportunities to engage with peers working at the forefront of science, engineering and medicine.
The 2027 programme will explore five priority themes:
- Vaccines and drug discovery
- Cancer
- Intelligent food systems
- Oceans and coastal environment
- Energy security
Participants will also have the opportunity to present their research during poster sessions, encouraging discussion across disciplines and the development of new professional networks.
There is no application fee, and selected participants will receive full financial support, including international travel, accommodation, meals and local transportation.
