Call for Applications: Connections to Sustain Science in Latin America Symposium 2026

Early- and mid-career scientists, engineers, and medical professionals from across the Americas are invited to apply for the Connections to Sustain Science in Latin America Symposium 2026, taking place 25–27 August 2026 in São Paulo, Brazil.

The symposium is convened by the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in partnership with the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, the InterAmerican Network of Academies of Sciences, and the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP).

The event will bring together outstanding early- and mid-career researchers (within 15 years of completing their PhD) from across North, Central and South America and the Caribbean to exchange ideas, build networks and explore opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.

Designed to foster dialogue across disciplines and regions, the symposium will feature discussions and research presentations focused on major scientific challenges and opportunities relevant to the Americas.

  • Oceans
  • Biomedicine and Omics
  • The Amazon and Sustainability
  • Resilience to Extreme Events

Participants will also present their work during poster sessions and engage with peers and senior experts in collaborative discussions.

There is no application fee, and all travel costs for selected participants, including flights, accommodation, meals and local transportation, will be fully covered.
