The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) has launched a public survey as part of its external review process, and is inviting members, observers and interested stakeholders to take part.
This initiative forms a key element of the midterm review under the rolling work programme of IPBES up to 2030, as approved by the IPBES Plenary in decision IPBES-10/1. The review consists of both internal and external components. While the internal review has already been completed, the external review, overseen by an independent panel, is currently in progress.
To deepen the insights gained during the internal phase, the external panel has prepared a survey addressing several important areas. The information gathered will help assess how effectively IPBES is operating and provide direction for future improvements at the science-policy interface for biodiversity and ecosystem services.
The survey, which takes approximately 30 minutes to complete, is designed to be user-friendly, featuring mainly multiple-choice questions and opportunities to offer additional input. All responses will remain anonymous.
Stakeholders are encouraged to submit their responses no later than 16 July 2025. The survey can be accessed here. For questions regarding the survey, contact the IPBES secretariat at mea-ipbes-secretariat@un.org. For technical support, reach out to mea-ipbes-registration@un.org.
Your participation is greatly appreciated and will play a vital role in shaping the future of IPBES.
