EASAC and FEAM to launch report on AI in European Healthcare

Artificial intelligence is transforming healthcare, creating new opportunities to improve diagnosis, treatment and patient care while raising important questions around safety, ethics and regulation.

On 30 September 2026, the European Academies' Science Advisory Council (EASAC) and the Federation of European Academies of Medicine (FEAM) will launch their new joint report, 'AI in European Healthcare: Policy Recommendations for Optimising Added Value and Safe, Ethical, and Inclusive Adoption', during a hybrid event in Brussels and online.

Developed through a collaboration involving EASAC, FEAM and their member academies since 2024, the report examines how AI-powered health products and services can be safely, ethically and effectively integrated into European healthcare systems.

The report explores evidence generation for AI technologies, including randomised and pragmatic clinical trial designs, alongside the evolving regulatory landscape. It also addresses key issues such as data interoperability, privacy, transparency, model explainability, equitable access, workforce preparedness and the education and training needed to support AI adoption in healthcare.

The launch event will bring together policymakers, regulators, healthcare professionals and patient representatives for two panel discussions on the opportunities and challenges of implementing AI in medicine.

The event will take place Wednesday, 30 September 2026, from 13:00 to 15:00 CEST at Arts 56, Brussels, with the option to participate online via live stream.
