BWC-ICGEB Fellowship Offers Training in Biosecurity and Peaceful Applications of Biology

The Implementation Support Unit (ISU) of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), in partnership with the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) and supported by Norway, is pleased to announce the Fellowship for Scientists in the Peaceful Use of Biology and Biosecurity.

This fellowship is open to early-career scientists from OECD/DAC list of ODA recipient countries and offers hands-on training at ICGEB laboratories in Italy, India, South Africa, and the ICGEB Regional Research Centre in China. Fellows will gain experience in life sciences research and in the detection and response to biological threats.

Supported by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), the fellowship provides a stipend, IT and laboratory support, and travel and accommodation for selected fellows. Up to 20 candidates will be selected.

This fellowship contributes to the implementation of Article X of the BWC, promoting the peaceful use of biological sciences and strengthening global capacity in biosecurity.
