Global Conference on Sciences for Sustainable Development to Take Place in Paris

Sustainable Development Goals

The global science community will meet at UNESCO Headquarters from 15 to 17 July 2026 for the Global Conference of the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development. The conference will explore how science can drive a sustainable and fair future for everyone.

The Decade, led by UNESCO and endorsed by the United Nations, seeks to connect scientific knowledge with action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. It encourages collaboration across disciplines and supports the inclusion of knowledge from Indigenous Peoples and local communities.

Two years into the Decade, the 2026 Global Conference will provide a space to reflect on progress and plan for the future. The meeting will gather ministers, research leaders, universities, academies, civil society, youth networks and the private sector. Together they will share experiences, highlight lessons learned and strengthen partnerships that turn scientific knowledge into action.

The three-day programme begins with high-level discussions on the role of science in shaping the post-2030 development agenda. Day two will focus on practical outcomes and the launch of the first IDSSD Global Report, which will provide evidence and guidance for the next phase of the Decade. The final day will feature interactive sessions and showcase initiatives from around the world.

The conference will highlight how science can address global challenges and build stronger links between research, policy and society. It will set a clear direction for the Decade from 2026 to 2029 and inspire collaboration that advances sustainable development worldwide.
