Honouring Peter McGrath on His Retirement from IAP

Peter McGrath is retiring from the InterAcademy Partnership after many years of dedicated service to the global scientific community. His work has strengthened international collaboration and advanced the role of science in policy and society.

Trained as an entomologist, Peter began his career in research before moving into science communication. He has a unique talent for explaining complex ideas in clear and engaging ways, helping to bridge the gap between scientists and society.

Since joining IAP in 2013, Peter has coordinated programmes supporting science education, biosecurity and science diplomacy. He has been instrumental in connecting academies, researchers and policymakers around the world. Colleagues remember him for his clarity, generosity and empathic leadership.
