Sustainable Development Goals

The Inter-American Network of Academies of Sciences (IANAS) has opened nominations for the 2026 IANAS Young Scientist Research Award, an initiative of the IANAS Women for Science (WfS) Programme that recognises outstanding early-career women researchers across the Americas.

The award is open to women scientists from eligible IANAS member countries who earned their PhD within the past five years and are conducting research in their home country. Applications are invited in the life sciences, natural sciences, social sciences and technological sciences.

The selected researcher will receive USD 1,500 to support research-related activities, together with a certificate of recognition and a profile on the IANAS Women for Science website. Each IANAS member academy may nominate one candidate. The deadline for nominations to the IANAS Secretariat is 31 July 2026.

By recognising emerging scientific talent, the award aims to increase the visibility of women in research and support the next generation of scientific leaders across the region.
