IAP Co-chair travels to Beijing, China, to the conference of the International Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences (CAETS)
IAP Co-chair, Prof. Volker ter Meulen, meets Chinese President Xi Jinping at the opening reception of the 2014 CAETS Convocation in Beijing last week. CAETS, the International Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences, invited the IAP leadership to its annual meeting on 2-3 June 2014, the theme of which this year was Engineering and the Future of Humankind, and as an observer to the CAETS Council Meeting which took place on 4 June 2014, hosted by the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).
Ter Meulen presented the global network of science academies to participants from engineering academies, industry, research institutions and governmental organizations and explored opportunities for further collaboration in the frontiers of science and engineering and improved networking between IAP and CAETS.
