IAP Young Physician Leader Showcases Social Innovation at the World Health Summit 2025

Health

A global platform for change

The World Health Summit 2025 in Berlin once again brought together international leaders, policymakers, and innovators to address pressing challenges at the intersection of health, sustainability, and equity. As a long-standing partner supporting emerging voices in health leadership, the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) was proud to see one of its Young Physician Leaders (YPLs) take the stage in a prominent role.

From leadership to innovation

Dr. Samuel Knauss, a member of the IAP Young Physician Leaders Programme, and his partner Dr. Julius Emmrich were invited to present their social enterprise Elucid during the high-level panel 'Private Investments in Public Good for Global Health'. The session brought together innovators driving sustainable health solutions with measurable social impact.

About Elucid

Elucid is a mission-driven social enterprise that strengthens the health and economic resilience of farmers and workers in global supply chains. Operating across Madagascar, Ghana, Uganda, Côte d’Ivoire, Ecuador, and Venezuela, Elucid partners with cooperatives and companies in cocoa, coffee, fresh produce, nuts, and cotton sectors to deliver affordable healthcare solutions to agricultural communities.

Its offline-first digital platform, combined with sustainable healthcare financing models, ensures that farmers and their families can access essential medical care without risking financial hardship. At the same time, Elucid collects high-quality social, health, and economic data — enabling supply chain partners to meet ethical sourcing regulations, mitigate human rights risks, and report transparently on their sustainability commitments.

Since its founding, Elucid has provided healthcare access and financial protection to more than 30,000 people, facilitating over 12,000 treatments across its operating countries.

Building bridges for sustainable health

During the panel, Drs. Knauss and Emmrich emphasized how cross-sector collaboration, strong partnerships, and innovative digital tools can bridge the gap between public good and private investment. Their work demonstrates how young physician leaders can leverage medical expertise and entrepreneurial vision to create sustainable, scalable solutions for global health equity.

The IAP Young Physician Leaders Programme continues to empower early-career health professionals to lead with purpose and impact — fostering the next generation of innovators who drive progress at the intersection of health, technology, and sustainability.
