M8 Summer School for Global Health

It will take place in Coimbra, Portugal, on 9-13 September 2018, and there are no tuition fees for IAP member academies. Deadline to apply: 5 August 2018.

The first M8 Summer School for Global Health will take place in Coimbra on 9-13 September 2018, and will bring together talented students and young professionals from different disciplines to work jointly on global health topics. After a brief introduction to basic concepts in global health on the first day, participants will zoom in on selected topics, examining them from different perspectives in the morning and applying what they have learned in more practical afternoon sessions.

The Summer School is organized by Coimbra Health, and supported by La Sapienza and the World Health Summit. It will be a training and networking opportunity not only for students and young researchers, but for researchers and lecturers from the M8 Alliance as well. 

This 5-day intensive and practical course will provide:

An interdisciplinary approach to global health issues, including medical, natural sciences, social sciences, and technical angles

  • In-depth insights into global challenges related to health and disease
  • Critical thinking on cross-cutting topics of global health
  • Skills to approach problems and solutions from different perspectives
  • Networking with peers from different countries and different disciplines.

WHO CAN APPLY

Masters-level students who wish to pursue a PhD in global health, PhD students planning to go on to global health postdoc positions, professionals working in fields related to global health.

TUITION

M8 Alliance Members: there are no tuition fees for participants from M8 Alliance member institution, including IAP member academies. Participants are responsible for their own travel costs. Coimbra Health will organize accommodation at no cost to participants.

Outside Participants: tuition fees to be announced soon. Non-M8 participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs.
