Volker ter Meulen has joined Depei Liu to make up the two figurehead Presidents of the InterAcademy Partnership.

Volker ter Meulen (Germany, co-chair of IAP for Science) has joined Depei Liu  DSCF7662(2).JPG(China, co-chair of IAP for Health) to make up the two figurehead Presidents of the InterAcademy Partnership.

ter Meulen replaces Robbert Dijkgraaf (the Netherlands), who has acted as IAP President since the establishment of the InterAcademy Partnership in March 2016. The change has happened as Dijkgraaf has completed his two terms as co-chair of IAP for Research. Replacing Dijkgraaf as co-chair of IAP or Research is Richard Catlow of the Royal Society, UK.

Thus, the Steering Committee of the InterAcademy partnership now consists of ter Meulen and Depei Liu as Presidents, plus Krishan Lal (India, co-chair of IAP for Science), Detlev Ganten (Germany, co-chair of IAP for Health), Daya Reddy (South Africa, co-chair of IAP for Research) and Richard Catlow.
The change-over was agreed at the recent meeting of the IAP Board on 14 October at the Berlin premises of the German National Academy of Sciences, Leopoldina. Making up the 10-person IAP Board are also representatives of the four IAP regional networks, AASSA, EASAC, IANAS and NASAC.
