- IAP CALL FOR PROPOSALS ... The programmes and strategic planning committee has prepared criteria and guidelines and IAP has issued a call for new proposals in line with new funding mechanisms that have been adopted for 2008. The submission date for new proposals is 31 May 2007. We would very much like to see proposals submitted by IAP's affiliated regional networks of academies of science and/or by groups of IAP academies with a strong geographical balance. For any queries, contact the IAP Secretariat. Members can access the file from the Members page on the website.
- Capacity Building. Representatives of the Network of African Science Academies (NASAC) visited the Royal Society (RS) in London from 9-13 October 2006. The visit, featuring meetings with RS staff, provided a first-hand perspective on Society activities. NASAC representatives also held meetings with UK government officials and staff, the scientific community and stakeholders. NASAC representatives have previously visited the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (2006) and the US National Academy of Sciences (NAS) (2001).
