- IAP Statutes and Rules of Procedure
The IAP Statutes and Rules of Procedure were officially adopted by the IAP General Assembly at its session held on 5 December 2006, in Alexandria, Egypt.
The statutes comprising ten articles aim to regulate aspects such as the IAP establishment, its objectives, activities, membership, general assembly, co-chairs, executive committee, secretariat, external relations and funding.
The rules of procedure focus, in the first section, on election procedures relating to membership, executive committee, co-chairs and the general assembly's host country and in the second part, on IAP statements and other publications.

- IAP's new members
On the occasion of the IAP Conference and General Assembly in Alexandria, Egypt on 1-5 December 2006, two new members were welcomed to the IAP roster. IAP membership has grown to 94 with the addition of the Tanzania Academy of Sciences (TAAS) and The Islamic World Academy of Sciences (IAS), Jordan. 
There are also two new observers, namely the InterAcademy Medical Panel (IAMP) and the InterAmerican Network of Academies of Sciences (IANAS).

- For IAP members: Questionnaire on Biosecurity - extended deadline for response
Further to the endorsement of the IAP statement on biosecurity by 68 world ‘s science academies, the IAP Biosecurity Working Group (BWG) is interested in knowing what actions IAP member academies, as well as other national scientific organizations, communities of scientists and/or government authorities have undertaken in response to the statement.

Questionnaire on Biosecurity

- The IAP Conference “The Unity of Science” and 5th General Assembly was held at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (the new Alexandria Library) from 1-5 December 2006. Representatives from more than 60 IAP member academies attended. On behalf of our membership, we would like to thank the staff of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and especially the library's director, Ismail Serageldin, for their warm and generous hospitality. We would also like to thank the speakers for their high-level presentations as well as the participants for helping to make the conference and assembly such a success. IAP Co-Chairs.

- The second focal point meeting for the IAP-NASAC Regional Science Education Programme of Africa was held on 11-12 December 2006 in Nairobi. Twelve academies from Africa were represented. Participating academies prepared proposals for activities to be undertaken under the Regional Programme for The Teaching of Science and Technology launched at a IAP-NASAC symposium held in Dakar, Senegal in March 2005.
