- The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences organized an international seminar on the Future of Nuclear Energy on 15 May 2006. Hans Blix, former executive director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the UN Commission on Weapons of Mass destruction, was an invited speaker. Experts from France, Japan and the US also lectured. A panel debate on the future of nuclear energy and the risks posed by the spread of nuclear weapon technology also took place.
