- The Delegation of the Finnish Academies of Science and Letters announced that a total of 99 individuals have been nominated for the 2008 Millennium Technology Prize, with candidates being proposed by 88 organisations in 27 countries. The world’s biggest technology award will be presented by Tarja Halonen, President of Finland, in June 2008. For information, see: http://www.milleniumprize.fi/

- TWAS held an international workshop on "Cities, Science and Sustainability" in Trieste, Italy, 20-22 September 2007. The initiative was a collaborative effort with the Consortium for Science, Technology and Innovation for the South (COSTIS) and the United Nations Development Programme's special unit for South-South Cooperation (UNDP-SSC). Case studies presented at the workshop will be edited before being published as part of the "Sharing Innovative Experiences" series of books produced by TWAS, UNDP-SSC and other partners.
