On 10 February 2026, Sir Richard Catlow, former Co-President of the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) and Research Professor of Chemistry at University College London, was named a co-recipient of the 2026 AAAS David and Betty Hamburg Award for Science Diplomacy, alongside Sir Martyn Poliakoff, Research Professor of Chemistry at the University of Nottingham.
The award recognizes outstanding contributions to international scientific collaboration and diplomacy, highlighting leaders who use science to build bridges between countries, institutions and communities.
Sir Richard Catlow has been a long-standing champion of global scientific cooperation, including his leadership roles at IAP, where he fostered dialogue and partnerships among academies worldwide to address societal challenges through science.
