Stronger Together: YPL Alumni Forge the Future in Berlin

Health

From October 10–12, 2025, eleven Young Physician Leaders (YPLs) from different cohorts and continents gathered in Berlin ahead of the World Health Summit to strengthen their global network and chart the next chapter of the programme. Representing both high- and low-income countries across continents, the group brought diverse perspectives and experiences to shape the future of YPL.

Over three days at The Hoxton Charlottenburg, alumni reviewed the first comprehensive Activity Report, co-created a governance framework for the YPL Alumni Committee, and explored strategies to expand engagement, build capacity, and amplify advocacy. Interactive workshops, including communications sessions, equipped participants to share the network’s impact more effectively within IAP, the World Health Summit, and the broader global health community.

“The YPL experience has helped me translate leadership knowledge into practice,”

said Dr. Atiya Mosam, Chair of the YPL Alumni Steering Committee, in a short video message. She highlighted the group’s collaborative efforts to strengthen the alumni network and previewed exciting developments ahead, including closer connections among alumni and new opportunities for collaboration and engagement.

The Berlin meeting concluded with renewed energy, actionable commitments, and a shared sense of purpose. With a stronger structure, a clear vision, and a truly global perspective, YPL alumni are ready to lead the future of global health.
