UNESCO Opens Call for Remote Access to AI Infrastructure

UNESCO and the Computing and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at the Brazilian Center for Physics Research (AI-Lab/CBPF) have launched a new international call offering researchers remote access to advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure. The initiative aims to expand equitable access to cutting-edge research facilities and strengthen scientific capacity in regions where such resources remain limited.

The opportunity is open to Master's and PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and junior faculty members from Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Ukraine and Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Selected participants will gain access to AI computing resources, technical training and mentoring, supporting collaborative research in areas such as AI, data science and computational modelling. Training and remote access are expected to begin in October 2026.

The programme forms part of UNESCO's Remote Access to Lab Equipment (UNESRALE) initiative, which works with international partners to improve access to advanced scientific infrastructure and promote more inclusive participation in research worldwide.
