National Academy of Medicine of Uruguay

The National Academy of Medicine of Uruguay is an honorary institution of an exclusive scientific nature, founded on 3 September1974. Its purposes are to intensify and encourage the study of medical sciences, to disseminate the results of its work in the country and abroad for prestige of national culture, advise public or private institutions in everything related to medicine or related sciences and promote the cult of dignity in the professional practice and in the scientific activities. It holds biweekly conferences on updating in the different specialties and topics of interest open to the entire medical community.

Several of its academics are members of the Honorary Scientific Advisory Group that advises the Uruguayan government on issues concerning the COVID-19.
