By the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 1003, dated 14 December 2022, a non-commercial joint-stock company, 'National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan' was established with 100% state participation in the authorized capital.
On 27 March 2023, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 152, 'On Certain Issues of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan' the non-commercial joint-stock company 'National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan' was renamed the non-commercial joint-stock company 'National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan'.
In December 2024, the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan received the status of the highest scientific organization. The government adopted a resolution on December 30, 2024, 'On Certain Issues of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan'. The document states: 'To reorganize the non-commercial joint-stock company 'National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan' by transforming it into the highest scientific organization 'National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan'.
Throughout 2024, elections for academicians were held, resulting in the selection of 17 scientists as academicians of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In February 2024, the Council of Young Scientists was established within the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This organization is responsible for implementing a large-scale strategy to attract young talents to the scientific community.
The Academy hosts scientific centers in the following fields: 'Education and Social Development', 'Agrobiological Resources and Ecology', 'Earth, Space, and Communications', 'Life and Health'.
As part of its activities, the Academy unites leading scientists, participates in the training of scientific personnel, awards scientific prizes and distinctions, conducts expert evaluations of scientific projects and programs, and promotes the development of high-tech industries and innovations. Additionally, it actively engages in international scientific cooperation, organizes symposia and exhibitions, conducts foresight studies, and holds competitions for awards and scholarships. The Academy also carries out scientific research in various fields of science and technology.
Scientific events of national and international levels are organized and conducted, electronic information resources are developed and utilized, and informational services and analytical support for science are provided. Sociological research is conducted to assess and develop the field of science, and predictive data on its development is formulated.
