The Science Council of Japan established the Young Academy of Japan (YAJ) as a permanent organization in 2011 in order to utilize the ideas of young researchers to solve various social issues and to nurture young researchers who will lead the academic world in the future. The logo of the YAJ was created in 2018. It uses flowers as a motif to express the image of young researchers, such as growth and momentum, as well as the gathering of various academic fields and people. YAJ members are selected from Humanities and Social Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Engineering and they are distributed to 7 problem-based committees, namely Human Resource Development for the Future of Science, Japanese Academic Systems, Interdisciplinary Research and Activities, International Activities, Social Collaboration for Regional Vitalization, Social Collaboration for Innovation, GYA AGM Local Organization and Public relation.
