Biography

Adel Daoud is a Professor in Computational Social Science at Linköping University’s Institute for Analytical Sociology and an Affiliated Associate Professor in Data Science and AI at Chalmers University of Technology. He has held previous positions at Harvard University, Stanford University, the University of Cambridge, and the Alan Turing Institute.

Dr. Daoud's research has two main orientations. In the social sciences, he studies global development, focusing on the determinants of health and living conditions. Methodologically, he develops and implements novel techniques in machine learning and causal inference. His work appears in leading journals such as PNAS and Science Advances, and at top AI conferences like AAAI. He directs The AI and Global Development Lab, a multi-institutional effort funded by the Swedish Research Council. The Lab combines AI, earth observation, and socio-economic theories to analyze sustainable and human development.
