Biography

Professor Anne Mills is Vice-Director, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), and has held faculty and administrative positions at LSHTM since 1990. Her research, writing, and program management activities in public health focus on improving health outcomes in the developing world and building supportive policies. Professor Mills is a scientific coordinator of UNITAS, a European Union-supported initiative to advance universal coverage in Tanzania and South Africa, and is Co-PI of the Gates Foundation-supported IDEAS (Informed Decisions for Actions) project to improve maternal and newborn health in Ethiopia, Nigeria, and India.

Professor Mills earned her PhD at London University, and her BA (Honours) in History and Economics and MA at Oxford University, St. Hilda's College. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of London, a Fellow of The Academy of Medical Sciences, and a Foreign Associate of Institute of Medicine.
