Botagoz Kaukenova is a senior general surgery resident at Nazarbayev University School of Medicine and CEO and co-founder of MedSupportKZ. Her work spans clinical surgery, health literacy, evidence-based communication, public health and health-system advocacy in Kazakhstan.

She holds an MD and is completing her General Surgery residency at Nazarbayev University School of Medicine. Her academic background also includes biology and health communication, complemented by additional training in journalism, medical education and vaccination communication.

She lives in Astana with her husband and two cats. She has earned a green belt in capoeira, studied yoga in India and recently taken up boxing. She loves books, pineapple pizza and tropical plants, and firmly believes the new Star Wars films are terrible.
