Carina Geldhauser
Executive Committee Member, Global Young Academy
Carina Geldhauser is a senior scientist (Associate Professor) at ETH Zurich and member of the Global Young Academy. She conducts fundamental research on mathematical models for phenomena in physics and biology and cross-disciplinary research in machine learning. The “applied” side of her work includes CO2 pollution monitoring, digital manuscriptology and reliable AI. As a trained philosopher and theologian, she works and publishes also on the pressing questions of our time in ethics of technology, i.e. AI ethics.
Dr. Geldhauser serves as a member of the executive committee of the Global Young Academy and European Women in Mathematics. She previously was a member of the executive board at the German Association for Junior Professors, Studies Without Borders and the International Mathematics Masters. Her global recognition includes invited talks at main international conferences, an Oberwolfach Leibniz Fellowship, participation in the Heidelberg Laureate Forum, Falling Walls conference (Berlin), and more.
Dr. Geldhauser contributes to science policy and diplomacy, serving in the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA). She is an expert advisor to the UN Secretary General's Scientific Advisory Board (UNSAB). She is a passionate science communicator and editor of the Oberwolfach Snapshots series. Her engagement for diversity in science was awarded several prizes.
