Celestin Mutuyimana
Celestin Mutuyimana is a clinical psychologist, psychotherapist, medical nurse and filmmaker with international expertise.
Currently, Celestin is a post-doctoral researcher at Division of Clinical Intervention and Global Mental Health at University of Zurich department of Psychology, and in the Division of Psychopathology and Clinical Intervention and honorary affiliated to Collegium Helveticum in Switzerland/ETH Zurich. He has over 12 years of experience as a psychotherapist, specializing in trauma-focused therapy and relationship therapy.
He is the founder of Baho Smile Institute, a psychotherapeutic and research center.
He has been principal investigator co-investigator in different research projects of post-traumatic stress in post war zones countries in sub-Saharan Africa like Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania and global south especially in Ukraine and Afghanistan.
His research interest includes trauma and stress related disorders, intergenerational trauma and development of digital culturally sensitive interventions that aim to give voice to trauma survivors to treat and prevent trauma sequalae and transmission, especially in post war zone areas in global south.
Celestin is passionate about promoting a healed society by conducting research and translating it into culturally effective solutions for those in need.
