Dr. Heike Köckler is Professor on health and place at the Bochum University of Applied Science in the Department of Health Science since 2015.
Heike is spatial planner by training and works in the field of healthy urban development. Her work is based on research on environmental justice, community health, indicators for sustainable development and digital participatory place analysis. She works on urban governance in municipalities focussing on overcoming the implementation gap. She runs the DiPS_Lab (Lab for participatory spatial analysis) which offers different participatory tools.
Heike worked at TU Dortmund in the Faculty for Spatial Planning and the Center for Environmental Systems Research at Kassel University. Heike is member of the ARL (Academy for territorial development in the Leibniz Association) and chairs various committees on urban health within ARL.
