Biography

Jacek is an early-career group leader in chemical biology and head of an advanced research infrastructure for drug discovery at the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He completed his PhD in France (2013 at ENS Lyon) and postdoctoral fellowships in Australia (University of Sydney) before returning to Poland in 2017 to start an independent research career. He has been leading and participating in over 30 national and international research projects with partners from various disciplines and sectors while managing budgets totalling over 15 million EUR.

In 2019 he became a member of the Polish Young Academy, which he has chaired since 2022. Since 2020, he has also been the President of the Young Academies Science Advice Structure (YASAS), which on 1 May 2022 became an official partner in the Science Advice Mechanism for the European Commission. He uses his international research background and experience to bring together Early-to-Mid Career Researchers across Europe to advocate for and work towards greater participation of EMCRs in science policy and science advice.
