Biography

Dr. Lucia Machová Urdzíková is a medical doctor and neuroscientist specializing in neuroregeneration, neurotechnologies, and biomedical ethics. Since 2002, she has worked as a senior researcher at the Institute of Experimental Medicine of the Czech Academy of Sciences, focusing on central nervous system trauma, cell therapies, biomaterials, and nanotechnologies. She also held teaching positions at the Czech Technical University and the Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University.

She serves as an Ethics Expert and Ethics Monitor for the European Commission (Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, ERC) and is a UNESCO ad hoc expert on the ethics of neurotechnology. She is a member of the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) Biosecurity Working Group and actively contributes to ethics and commercialization committees at the Institute of Experimental Medicine. She is also an editor of the journal Translational Neuroscience and a member of the Slovak Neuroscience Society.
