Biography

Mayara Secco is Infectious Diseases Physician and Tenured Researcher at Fiocruz, Brazil, focused on HIV and STI prevention and care. Her work bridges clinical research, clinical care, medical education and training, and public health policy, with technical and scientific advisory roles.

She holds a degree in Medicine from Fluminense Federal University (2018), with a sandwich period at Queen Mary University of London. She completed a residency in Infectious Diseases (2022), and a Master’s (2022) and PhD (2024) at Fiocruz.

Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, she values meaningful connections, intellectual curiosity, and experiences that expand her perspective. She is deeply connected to her roots and drawn to nature, books, new cultures, and purposes that bring people together.
