Biography

Moduoeola Samaila is a Professor of Pathology and Consultant Anatomic Pathologist with the Ahmadu Bello University and Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital Zaria, with subspecialization in Breast, Gynaecological and Dermatopathology.

She is a fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College, Nigeria, and College of Pathologists, East, Central and Southern Africa. Professor Samaila pioneered Dermatopathology sub specialty practice in Nigeria, and authored a specialty Dermatopathology textbook using hundred percent in - country practice materials after observing the dearth of Dermatopathology textbooks that focuses on skin of colour. She has authored and co-authored over 150 peer reviewed articles in high impact journals in addition to over
100 papers presented at in country and international conferences. She was a visiting international fellow at the women & Infant Hospital of Rhode Island Alpert Medical School of Brown University, USA and is the recipient of the best case presentation, Salzburg OMI seminars award among several scholarship and travel grant awards. She is also a cancer epidemiologist and has published a booklet on the cancer trends as seen in the Zaria Cancer Registry. At present she is cataloging her experience in thyroid neoplasms for educational purposes with the World Tumor Registry. She is a fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and Nigerian Academy of Medicine. She was the pioneer Deputy Dean, Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences, College of Medical Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University and immediate past Chairman of the College of Nigerian Pathologist, kaduna State. She currently chairs the Education committee of the West African Division of the International Academy of Pathology(WADIAP) and the College of Nigerian Pathologists (CNP).
