Natalia Manola
CEO OpenAIRE
Natalia Manola is the CEO of OpenAIRE, a pan-European e-Infrastructure supporting scholarly communication and Open Science since 2009. She is also a research associate at Athena Research and Innovation Center. Natalia holds a degree in Physics from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Wisconsin–Madison.
She brings over a decade of experience in bioinformatics gained in the US, combined with extensive expertise in Open Science policy, infrastructure, and research assessment reform. Natalia is the co-chair of the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) Working Group on Open Infrastructures for Responsible Research Assessment, driving the adoption of open, transparent, and community-governed evaluation systems. She has served on the European Open Science Cloud Executive Board (2018–2020), where she chaired the Skills and Training Working Group, and on the Open Science Policy Platform (2016–2018), advising the European Commission.
Her work focuses on Science, Technology and Innovation policy, e-Infrastructure development and management, scientific data management, data curation and validation, text and data mining, AI, and research analytics.
