Biography

Dr Sekhejane is the Deputy Executive Dean in the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Walter Sisulu University. Leading student success initiatives, teaching and learning in STEM and commercialisation. She’s the former Executive Head (interim) at the HSRC, leading the Africa Focus Research Division – Africa Institute of
South Africa (AISA), and the Director for Strategic Partnerships with special focus on Africa relations for
delivering on continental strategies. During her interim Executive Head role, she implemented various key projects such as Food
Systems Transformation and Climate Smart Agriculture, Nation Building and Children of Conflict in South Sudan, as well as
Democracy and Elections Status Quo in Africa. Previously she was a research specialist in the AISA. 
She was recently appointed to serve on the EU
platform through the Department of Science and Innovation, and as a fellow on the International Science Council, as well as on the
decision committee of the Science for Africa Foundation’s Preparing Outstanding Social Science Investigators to Benefit Lives and
Environments in Africa (POSSIBLE).
