Biography

Dr. Robert Socolow was trained as a physicist. He directed Princeton University’s Center for Energy and Environment Studies from 1979 to 1997. In 1995 he was a member of the Fusion Review Panel of the President’s Committee of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST). In 1997 he co-chaired the Workshop on Fuels De-carbonization and Carbon Sequestration, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. Currently, Dr. Socolow is a Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Princeton University. His research focuses on global carbon management, the hydrogen economy, and fossil-carbon sequestration. He is co-principal investigator of Princeton University’s new Carbon Mitigation Initiative (CMI), sponsored by British Petroleum and the Ford Motor Company.
